Hi, I’m Igazeuma — but most people call me Dr Gaz.
I’ve spent more than 20 years working at the intersection of sociology, the future of work, and sustainability across industries. And over the years, I’ve realised that sustainability doesn’t fail because people lack ambition. It fails when it no longer makes sense in real life.
I’ve seen this first-hand, from recruitment rooms and boardrooms to cement factories across emerging markets. That’s why the conversations I have today are less about theory and more about what actually works.
I speak about what I call Decolonising Sustainability — not as a critique, but as the next evolution of ESG. Because the real question today isn’t whether an organisation has a sustainability strategy. It is whether it creates meaningful, lasting outcomes for people, businesses, and society. That’s where credibility lives.
Most sustainability speakers talk about frameworks. I’ve actually had to make them work. As a former Chief Sustainability Officer working across 11 countries, I navigated the real tensions between decarbonisation, industrial growth, investor expectations, and operational realities. At the same time, I served on the Board of the world’s most widely used sustainability standard, which means I get to see both sides of how ESG is designed globally and how it actually plays out in practice
My style is simple: No jargon. No sustainability buzzwords. No theory for the sake of it.
I break down complex ideas into clear, relatable insights using real stories, human experiences, and lessons from industry. And somewhere along the way, I’ll probably challenge how you think about sustainability.
Sustainability doesn’t happen inside frameworks. It’s lived by real people, in the real world.
